What do we have to do to start an IVF cycle with semen or egg donation?

You must provide the following information for your first appointment:
1- Age.
2- Type of treatment you would like to undergo.
3- Medical record, tests performed and any information that you may have of previous cycles of assisted reproduction.
4- Preferred day of the week (Monday through Friday).
We will attend your request as soon as possible.
What should you bring at the first appointment?
You should bring as much information as possible about your medical record.
Once you contact us, we will tell you what tests need to be performed before coming for your first appointment.
We need to know your blood group and Rh.
It is important that both members of the couple attend the first appointment in order to select the donor that best matches the phenotypical characteristics of the couple.
Are all assisted reproduction tecniques available at Instituto Marques?
Yes. Institute Marques is accredited to performed all assisted reproduction techniques allowed by the Spanish legislation.
There is no legal age limit specified in assisted reproduction treatments in Spain. However this centre has established an arbitrary limit of 50 years old for egg donation treatment. We think that carrying a pregnancy after this age exposes the woman to an unacceptable degree of risk. Patients older than 44 years will be asked to bring a medical report signed by a gynaecologist. It needs to state that in the doctors’ opinion the patient is in good health and that a pregnancy will not pose serious risks to the patient.
There is no legal age limit for the IVF either, but we believe that it would be unethical to start treatments with patients older than 42 years. The Spanish Society for Fertility has not recorded a single birth in patients of that age and over who underwent IVF treatment. However each case is individually assessed before advising against an assisted reproduction technique.
